Huge charity yard sale for new charity Age is Just a Number - Sunday Semptember 9th 2012

A New Charity in Fenland is organising a massive yard sale in order to raise money for their cause.

Age is Just a number provides therapeutic groups and one to one counselling to people over the age of 65. All treatments are carried out by fully trained professionals and therapists. Specialist counsellors are available for one to one sessions with those that require a higher support level than others.

The charity was founded by a group that have all worked within care and Charity positions prior to forming. These same minded individuals launched Age is Just a Number in order to help aid the confidence and quality of life of the elderly, allowing them to enjoy a greater standard of living.

Targeting five key groups, Age is Just a Number aims to help: Mens groups, Womens groups, Aid with loss of a lifelong partner, Living alone, and Isolated living.

All of these are massive issues among the older community in Fenland, many finding it difficult to cope with life choices and decisions.

Focus is not on any one specific condition or ailment, Age is Just a Number offers support and help to anyone over the age of 65 who may require it. Support may include referral to alternative organisations and/or Charities who can provide more specialised help.

Specialised peer support groups working within a set theme have been organised to help aid individuals who may be experiencing a similar set of life events.

Age is Just a Number boasts a BACP certified counsellor, who can provide a comfortable and safe environment where a persons needs and requirements can be assessed and help provided to work through issues. Upon completion of a course of treatment support will still be provided, encouraging people within groups to continue to meet and provide mutual support.

Age is Just a Number has only recently started out, so they are looking out for funding in order to aid in development of their work.

Just £1000 can provide resources for up to 10 elderly people to take part in a bereavement group, or 4 to participate in a course of one to one counselling.

In order to raise funds for the Charity, Age is Just a Number will be holding a massive yard sale at Tamar Computers, Redmoor Lane, Wisbech. 

The yard sale will take place from 9am, until 4pm on Sunday the 9th of September.
